How your Pelvic alignment affects Fertility

Fertility· Infertility· Pelvic Alignment· Womb

20 Jul

Did you know that your pelvic health, not just your reproductive organs can affect your fertility?

More specifically, how your pelvic alignment affects fertility. We can as with safety and sustenance, return to our original intrinsic design and see how todays life affects this design and dysfunction as a result.

I had a great time talking with Claire Mockridge, a Restorative Exercise Specialist (and a good friend of mine). She works with those who are experiencing pelvic dysfunction, although they may not realise this is the issue.

Claire has worked with many clients of mine who we have identified pelvic congestion with, to great effect. So, I was excited to interview her for the Podcast and also to film some bonus Material for the Online course I am currently preparing. If you would like to know when this is released, click here.

You can see the video of our interview below

signs of Pelvic congestion

You may not realise that you have pelvic congestion or dysfunction, so a few things that may suggest you have some alignment issues are:

  • hip pain
  • lower back pain
  • tight hip flexors
  • tight hamstrings
  • interrupted period flow
  • cervix position commented on by cervical screening practitioner
  • constipation
  • painful periods

My experience

As well as being a natural fertility therapist, mindfulness based teacher and hypnotherapist, I am also an Ergonomist.

It may seem very disconnected to fertility, but when I worked in this field, as well as working with change management, (a vital skill sets with my fertility clients), I also used to assess people interaction with their workstation, including the physical and behavioural. generally a change in sitting posture and duration of sitting posture improved physical discomfort.

What is interesting talking with Claire is also understanding how the organs that sit within the pelvis (Bladder, Uterus and Bowel) are affected but he positions we adopt.

ARE YOU USING YOUR SITTING BONES?

Do you sit a lot in your working day? Unless you are sitting on your sitting bones (did you know you actually had such bones?), the pelvis can become congested over a period of time. The sitting bones (ischial tuberoscities) are the bony bits on your bottom.

Pelvic alignment and fertility

To find them, sit on your hands, palm up and move until you find the pressure of these Sharpe bones. To sit on these your knees need to be lower that your hips in a seated posture.

We unpick how its not just the posture adopted but as I am sure you have received training for if you work at a workstation, how long we sit for. Also the different time throughout the day we do actually sit.

GIVING YOUR WOMB ROOM

One of the biggest messages here is to give your womb room. Makes sense doesn't it? How can she function properly without the space she was designed to have. Could you function of you had to do everything squished behind a bookcase?

Another important take home message from our interview is the importance of

  • sitting better
  • sitting less
  • moving more.
