In todays episode I am talking about sperm and I look back at some articles in the past that have suggested that if we continue to decline in the male fertility counts as we have been then we are going to become extinct as a species
I wanted to unpick this a little an look at why this may be the case, what's happening in the male reproductive system that is affected by this, what we can do about it and how we need to get to understand the intrinsic design of fertility and how its not evolving to todays modern lifestyle.
Sperm, sperm counts, tests and what we need to consider with regard too fertility.
When we look at factors affecting fertility, 1/3 are related to female factor, 1/3 male and 1/3 a combination of the 2. This is also the same when we look at miscarriage.
So, sperm counts, when you are experiencing fertility issues, especially in the Uk, you will be referred for testing.
The test for males is a sperm analysis, a very basic analysis, and the purpose of the test is to decide where you will go within the fertility medical model. Whether you will go down routes before IVF and if not whether it will be conventional IVF or ICSI.
I look at some research and studies that have suggested the continued decline but then stopped look at what happened to our diets and lifestyles after 1973, which is the date that the decline potentially started after.
Yes! Processed foods, cleaning products, cosmetics and personal hygiene products and plastics. How the testerone levels in men (which is affected in utero) is affected by the fact that theses chemicals mimic oestrogen. Our bodies are so confused!
But let's have a think abut the changes we can make, whow we night think its not worth making the changes or whey should we, because others done and they are getting pregnant?
Enjoy, as ever I hope its thought provoking!
